Lydius Corner

The northeast corner of State and Pearl Streets. The storefront space above this plaque most recently housed the Fusion Cafe and is now being prepped for a Subway sandwich shop to move in.

The corner was named for a fur trader, John Lydius, who own a house here in the 18th century, as well as a residence in Montreal.

  1. Tablet No. 18 of the Bi-Centennial Tablets of 1886 -- and one of the few still in its original location.

  2. Doesn't it figure that the one Bicentennial Tablet I'd most like to see is one that's missing? I've spotted a few of them here and there, but the one at Arch & South Pearl - marking the Beaverkill - is gone.
